Diane Guerrero came down to Brownsville to give a talk as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series of UTRGV. She shared her amazing story with us and left us with many lessons about speaking up and making our voice as Latinos and Latinas be heard and represented in the media.
After her talk, during the Q&A session, I stood up and asked if I could photograph her. She agreed, but it had to be right there and then.
Thanks to my family who rushed to the scene to bring my camera and lighting gear, we had an impromptu portrait session at the only place where I could find a simple, solid wall to use as a background, outside the restrooms of the TSC Arts Center.
This is what we came up with.
Many thanks to Diane, and everyone who made this session happen.
